Comparing Acoustic Emission signals of different damage mechanisms in carbon fiber composites

acoustic emission signals

Carbon fiber composite damage mechanisms compared by their acoustic emission signals: from epoxy micro-cracking to composite macro-damage. Note that micro-cracking signals are very small compared to other mechanisms and almost not seen in the first plot. Detected using 180 kHz sensors and 60 dB preamplifiers.
